Blogging on Myth, Folklore, and Fairy Tales

Here is a real post to prevent people from thinking that Twitter that has taken over my blog. I will continue to use twitter so that you can see what I’m up to and know when I’m working on the future episodes. Now on to the topic at hand…

In the planning stage of this blog as a separate entity from the podcasts, I set up a couple of “Google Alerts” to notify me of any pages that come up with “myth”, “mythology”, “folklore”, “fairy tales”, or variations of these words.

It has been really interesting watching what pages are coming up in my notifications. Very little of it actually relates to the subjects that I’d consider relevant to my podcasts. “Myth” has been used to describe politicians by their opponents, “Fairy Tales” describe sports teams who do surprisingly well, and I don’t see a lot of results for “folk lore”. I received a huge flood of notices when a new software title/game is based on mythology.

When I find something interesting, I’ll add the link to the blog. If I put in twitter, I’ll label it so that it is easy to spot among the “slice of life” stuff. When something bears commenting, I’ll do a post similar to the previous post about the movie review that I did a while back.

I’d love to know what you think. If you have any contributions, please let me know. If you’d like to follow me on twitter, I can be found with the user name “gregorylemon.”

Until next time…
