Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed

I just finished watching Criminal Minds on CBS. It was a show titled “Seven Seconds” about a child that went missing in the mall. The show ended with this quote, attributed to G. K. Chesterton:

“Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed.”

I really liked that quote, so much I’m blogging about it 30 seconds after I heard it. There was a bad dragon in the show, and it was “killed.”

Stories teach…

What have I taught my kids?

That was the first time I had watched Criminal Minds in a long time. It was an added bonus for this quote to be there. It spoke volumes to me.
