34-Ali Baba: Inheritance

As we've come to expect, the story of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, perhaps the second most famous story from One Thousand and One Nights, is much more violent than modern adaptations would have us believe. Medieval Persia was a dangerous place, and you needed to have your wits, a lot of luck, and apparently an extremely loyal, wily slave girl to survive.

The creature this week is the Nix, and it will give you yet another reason to shout at strangers in the grocery store.

Wow, upon watching it again, this episode was not great at all. They cut off the story right before it got to the good part, though the segments in the 90s didn't disappoint. Come for the folklore, stay for the stellar cyber security.

  • A body is dismembered and hung in quarters
  • Said body is sewed back together
  • Numerous people are boiled to death
  • Someone is stabbed

Okay, I feel a bit stalkerish commenting on a bunch of episodes, but I just binged on pretty much the whole podcast and I am excited about so many of the stories. Anyway, I just wanted to make a quick suggestion. When you go back to the Arabian Nights, you should tell the story of Bac-Bac next. It is so good and funny.
